Here's a captivating report to the travelers - air travel in the Gulf is at its highest sustained level of activity ever. New facilities and new routes that GCC airlines will launch in 2025, will broaden your opportunity for travel both internationally and regionally. More low-cost and premium airlines are now operating than ever, and passengers will have many choices of airlines to fly from. In this blog, we will explore how air travel in the Gulf is changing, the role of budget carriers, luxury carriers and what this means for passengers and the region.
Airlines in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain are escalating their efforts to open new routes that enhance connectivity for regional and international travel.
Saudi Arabia has taken the lead with Saudia expanding service to Europe and Morocco, Flynas's East African routes in the works, and Riyadh Air preparing for its audacious global launch. With plans to serve more than 100 destinations by 2030, Riyadh Air is set to become a major player in international connectivity, positioning the kingdom as a true global hub.
The UAE lead is also strengthening, with Emirates increasing frequency to Bali and Warsaw and Wizz Air Abu Dhabi starting low-cost connections to Azerbaijan and Bulgaria.
Qatar Airways is strengthening its global hub adding routes to Atlanta, Johannesburg and Bodrum.
Oman Air, Kuwait Airways, and Gulf Air are also establishing spaces with routes to connect South Asia, Europe and the Caucasus.

By granting access to the sky - for less money, low-cost carriers (LCCs) are changing the region. Airlines like Flynas, Flyadeal, SalamAir, Jazeera Airways and Wizz Air Abu Dhabi are examples of LCCs.
With low fares today, quick weekend getaways, or solo business trips, are now much more feasible to the region - and cheaper than ever.
Point-to-point routes eliminate the necessity of travelling through traditional hubs, which adds to the speed and convenience of travel.
This is particularly appealing to a younger professional segment, families with children and expatriates, who test your value for money.

On the other side of the spectrum are the GCC’s premium giants: Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad, Saudia and the newcomer Riyadh Air. These airlines are known for redefining luxury travel with spacious cabins, world-class service, and global connectivity.
For business travelers and luxury seekers, premium airlines still dominate inter-GCC and long-haul routes. They play a crucial role in linking the Gulf to Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
Premium carriers also act as global connectors, using GCC hubs like Dubai, Doha, and Riyadh as bridges between continents.
So which is better: low-cost or premium? Both serve a very specific purpose to create inter-GCC travel:
LCCs (low-cost carriers) typically offer the best services for short-haul, no-frills, low-cost flights. Excellent for getting from A to B, a business trip or a quick hop, and for people traveling on restrictions.
Premium is bought by more than price, it looks at long-haul flights and prestige travel. Comfort of a long-haul connection, seamless connectivity, great service, and more.
A tale of choice in 2025 is what the skies of the GCC offer. Low-cost carriers are helping to democratize travel and cost-effectiveness, while premium airlines are continually establishing the mark for global connectivity. In combination, they are reshaping the meaning of flying to and from the Gulf.
Whether you are looking for a weekend escape or an extravagant escape taking longer, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has plenty of options. Both budget carriers and luxury airlines are adding routes, and travelers are reaping the rewards of the exciting developments in Gulf Aviation.
So, where will your next flight take you? Start planning your journey today and explore the Gulf’s skies like never before.
